Blog #1: Please respond to the blog entry below in 150 words or more. Due Monday, January 30.

How political are you and why? Do you pay no attention at all to politics? Why is that? Do you consider yourself to be a strong member of a particular political party? Explain why. Do you intend to vote in the 2012 presidential election? Are you happy or unhappy with the current political system? Either way, try to explain why you feel as you do. Do you consider politics more important at the national, state, or local level? Explain. Are you happy or unhappy with the Obama administration? Why? If the election were tomorrow, whom would you vote for? Do you even know who the men are who are vying for the Republican nomination for president? If so, do any of them appeal to you more than others? Do you have anything else to add on the subject of U.S politics?
If you have no opinions whatsoever about politics, and if you do not care at all who runs for election or who wins, try to examine and explain why you feel this way. Why are politics not important to you? Do you think they should be important to anyone? Why or why not?

I'm personally not political at all because i have never really have been interested in it. But if i had to say what i side i am on; i would say the conservative side. The only time i honestly pay attention to it is on special days such as the election or primaries. This year I plan on making a little more effort to pay attention to politics just because i do not really want to see President Obama and his administration go on fur and put this country in a deeper depression than it already is. I also do not agree with Obama health care plan that he pasted two or three years ago. I don't believe the average everyday American should pay for some one health care just because they refuse to spend their money on it. I am really pulling for the Republican side of it and hope they can change this economy around along with creating jobs and take our great country out of this deep depression

I’m not totally political but I know a little bit. Now that I’m eighteen and all I have been following politics and debates a little more closely but I mean I only know enough to know that I have a candidate who I know I’m going to vote for. I don’t pay attention to all the political things out there right now…there’s a lot going on at the moment but I’m following the person who I will vote for. As far as political things go the only real thing I have been following at the moment is the SOPA/PIPA act that deals with the censorship of the internet…wich I believe is wrong and is impeding on our first amendment rights… but I would say that I moderately follow politics is because sometimes things just make me mad to see happen for instance the fact that now women must have a doctor’s prescription to receive the plan b pill…don’t get me started on that…but I do because I want to be able to know what im voting for if I ever have to. Also I don’t like the people who complain about what others vote for when they don’t vote themselves…I don’t want to be that person, so I vote.
I do plan to vote in the 2012 election, mostly because im tired of Obama. Don’t get me wrong he did a good job, but nothing he did really ever did much to help the nation. It just seemed like the promises I was expecting ended up being broken. It saddens me in the way that I was totally gunning for him to get president and I was happy that he won at first, but then things just ended up not getting done in my eyes. So I could say no, I am not happy with the current situation that we are in as a country. People are taking personal freedoms away in my opinion we cant get jobs if we need them …like a certain college kid typing this response…and if we do have jobs people are hoping every day that they won’t get laid off because of the current economic situation that we are in. Therefore think that politics at the national level is more important. We need to be more concerned with the whole rather than at a state level. The laws are all pretty close and so really do we really need local governments? I think we need representation but I don’t think we need town governments really… theyre not that important to me.
If the election were tomorrow I do know who I would vote for but for personal reasons I don’t normally tell people who I will or did vote for. Its my own opinion and I don’t really share that one since people get all oh why are you not voting for this guy? I don’t like that… but yes I do know a bit about the presidential candidates… enough to know who I want to vote for and enough to know who I don’t want and then the one with the crazy responses for example putting colonies on the moon … so ya.

I'am not political at all and do not plan on taking any part of learning politcs. I really have no desire to watch and pay attention whats going on. We will learn about it on the news if it really applies to us that bad. But other then that it just doesn't catch my attention. I do think its pretty cool to take part in presidential elections, it's like taking part in your country. Any ways, yes I would like to vote for this 2012 election and mostly i agree a lot with what Sam said about Obama. Also I feel like we see his wife more then we see him I do believe there should be a little role change if he's trying to help us. To be honest if there was the vote tommorrow I wouldn't know who would be electing till that time, but I will not be voting for Obama. Anyways politics are not my subject and all I really care about is that there making the right choice for everyone in America.

I'm not very political involved at all. I dont follow or watch any elections other than the presidential election. I only watch the presidential at the end of the campaign.I would say im a democrat but like i said im barely involved in politics. Yes i am planning to vote for Obama in the 2012 election.Im am happy with Obama, he doesnt done much but atleast he isn't messing things up. Which it would be hard to do much since the republicans in the political system won't let him.Im not unhappy with it, but i feel like the political system and goverment in general is pretty fucked up. I dont know much abput them i have seen them. I heard one of the republican canidate Rick Santorum took his dead baby home and him and his wife took pictures with the baby? That is one of the craziest things i have ever heard in politics or maybe in my life. If you ask me he is one sick bastard so i'm sure the others aren't much better. I hope that Obama wins and from the looks of it he might.

Well, being a bartender for eleven years, I was told by the boss from the get go: Interceed on any conversation involving religion or politics. This was sort of funny to me to begin with, but guess what...if a conversation starts in the bar over religion or politics, it NEVER ends well. I, personally, don't really pay a whole lot of attention to politics on a daily basis, but I do vote. I try to "cram" very close to the elections and do the best I can with my decision, but I don't watch tv or listen to the radio or read the newspaper very often, it just depresses me. I did have help from one politican once, who will remain unnamed as I saw him at afterhour parties in my twenties and he has sort of a "party guy" reputation. He was our state rep when he helped me and went onto Congress. I know that he also helped alot of other people and even though his personal time was spent sort of questionably, he did his job and there really don't seem to be alot of politicians who do. I began voting only because of this one man. I still vote for him to this day. To be honest, if it wasn't for him, I might not take the time to vote.

I am not in to politics at all. I do not vote and I probably would not vote for the 2012 elections. But someone has to. I have full confidence in the voters of American. I do not really find myself following any political party. I think that all the talk about how the Obama administration is failing is stupid. It has taken years for this country to get where it is now. All this talk about change and how they can do better, it would not happen overnight. It's going to take time to get this country on its feet again. If I had to vote tomorrow I would vote for Obama, it takes time for a big change to happen. We need to give them a chance to get stuff rolling in a better direction. I am glad people do take politics serious. It needs to be done and it holds the country together. J.McWhorter

In all honesty i do not care nor do i pay attention to the government or any political nonsense. im not a very big fan of "suits". but i do agree that it is important to pay attention to things because after all they make the laws... sadly, and if you choose the wrong person you can have a hell of a horrible life. this may sound really bad but they don't look or sound like interesting people, and i think some of them are not even people at all. i mean its more about a personality thing to me. if they act like they care about there "people" then i will have good thoughts or opinions about them. but if they just stand up there in front of a microphone speaking what they "say" they are going to do then i don't feel as though i should care. everyone else always makes a big deal about but i mean it seams pretty important if people in third world countries die to vote. so in the end yes when i get older ill probably care for it more because it would be effecting my life and even my pay. but in the end i will always look at them as "suits"

Im really not interested, know i should be. I did listen to the address last night. I felt like he said everything everyone wanted to hear. I kind of feel like all politicians do that. I have not voted for a couple of years, but plan on doing this year. I feel Illinois is in a really sad state. We have had a lot of criminals in office, but then again i think there a lot of them in office every where. I am going to try to be more involved, i just find it boring.

I am not a very political person, I don’t really know why I’m not I have always have been this way. I don’t consider myself to be a member of a political party I am not even sure what party my parents belong too. When the election of 2012 comes around I will more than likely I will not vote because I don’t know enough about the candidates or even who they are for that matter. I am unhappy with the current political system; I believe that the current political system is corrupt beyond belief. I feel that politicians are only looking out for themselves or just wanting to get more money. I don’t really have an opinion about Obama administration because the only thing that I have really heard about his administration comes from those who have already formed their opinion of it. I have no clue as to who is running for the republican nomination, in my opinion it doesn’t matter because I believe they are all corrupt.

Im really not interested, even though I know I should be. Ive never voted and im nineteen now. I plan on voting later in life but since ive never really watched politics or anything i dont wanna vote, just to vote. I could try to watch more and try to get involved but its to hard for me. I just find it to boring and not interesting to watch.Maybe ill be more interested when im older but not anytime soon. I mean heck i dont even know whos running besides Obama its safe to say that politics and things that deal with the law just dont go well with me. Bu maybe in the future who knows this can be a better subject for me.

Once you turn 18, I think a lot of people get excited about being able to vote and all that fun stuff. Now myself… I honestly don’t know anything about politics. It bores me to death. To tell you the truth, I have no clue who is even running this term. Sometimes I will try and pay attention when my mom or dad will be watching the news, but confusion sets in and I get bored and walk away. I just can’t get interested. For this election, I plan to vote. Most likely, I’ll be voting what my parents are voting since I’m really not sure. I hope to better myself and become more educated with it and by the time the next term comes around be able to decide for myself.
Right now, I would consider myself a republican, mostly because majority of them are prolife and against abortion. That is one of my biggest beliefs.
I think that I’m not very interested in politics because no matter what, the president voted is going to do what he wants to do. On the contrary, I’m very glad that there are some people who feel very strongly about politics. I believe there needs to be people like that in order to keep things balanced.

I am not very political because it honestly bores me. I could careless about who is the president, as long as the world is not crumbling down i am happy. I know I should be concerned about the political government but I don't have time to listen to the state of the union address or be concerned about anything else. Obama seems like he is a good president and knows what he is talking about when it comes to taking control over things.

Politics are very important to everybody living in the country it effects us all in different ways. I Have never voted because i just turned 18 but i do plan on voting this year. I Can't say that i pay close attention to everything but i know about the major things going on. Obama has had to overcome a lot of things and problems the country had before he was president. I really believe he has and will do everything in his power to help the U.S As much as he can. Its important that we have more on voting and explaining to young ones political situations going on because speaking for the youth we really dont know whats going on in the world all the time because the information is put in places that don't target us.. newspapers, the news on t.v things of that nature. I just think they need o find a better way to inform us so we can know what's really going on

I am a person that is not interested in politics at all. It is not that it isn’t important because I do feel that for our world to be administrated in a better way, the people need to see who is the best candidate to make it happen. Though, as my personal opinion, I find it a waste of time for me. I don’t watch it on t.v. because I am always doing things that I just don’t have time for it. I don’t think that one person can change anything. I turned 18 last year so I never signed up to be able to vote and I haven’t and I don’t think I am this year either. I find it not as important to me at the moment; probably when I am older. I think there are more important things. Though, when Obama was running they made it a huge commotion so I did see parts of it and I would get bored me but I saw that everything he said was logical. If I would have voted I would have voted for him but then when I think about it I tell myself, what is the point of voting if what the candidates promise they end up not doing it? Obama has made many decision and we are still the same if not worst.

I'm not a big political person and I pay attention every now and then. I personally believe that politics are corrupt. I don't find myself part of any political party. I guess it's safe to say that I'm one of those people that believe that these things don't effect me when in actuality they do. From the little that I do pay attention to, I think that people expect too much from the Obama administration. Of course he hasn't done much, but our country has been in debt for a couple of decades now, its not that easy to get out of debt, especially only being in office for four years. People expect too much in such a short amount of time. I think its in every presidents nature to lie and contradict themselves. How else are they going to win the election. As far as being a politician,I find them boring and its hard for me to keep up and pay attention.

Sometimes I will try to pay attention if my parents are watching the political stuff on tv but it all gets so confusing. As for this election, I plan to vote.If I dont know much about the election i will most likely vote for who my parents do. I kind of look at it as though if you vote you will have a say in about the world and if you dont you really cant complain about it because you could have had a chance to choose someone different. There are some things i agree with Obama and other things i dont. I just wish i could pay more attention to everything that is going on but somethings are just boring.

I am not political at all. I do not keep up with politics because it is boring. I do not plan on participating in the upcoming election because I don’t know a lot about politics to vote so there is no reason to vote. I am fine with how our political system is now because I don’t notice how it is affecting me as of right now. If the election was tomorrow I would not care because I don’t plan on voting because I don’t know much of politics. People who don’t know much about politics should not vote in the election just to say that they voted. Really the only way I keep up with politics is when I watch The Colbert Report or The Daily Show with John Stewart on Comedy Central and watch them make fun of the people in politics. The strongest opinion that I have, one that seems to have become a more popular belief, which the American community needs to band together in order to change the political power system that is in control into something that is less convoluted and more streamlined in order to work for the people and allows for less corruption and greed.
The American government has become an idle group of greed driven; power hungry facades of what it had been intended to be. The idea of a government that was chosen by the people in order to reflect the thoughts and beliefs of the majority has been lost to men who gain their personal beliefs based off of lobbyists and what they think will get them into office again. This is apparent when looking at the simple facts of polls taken every day. The people can have whatever belief in whichever issue you want to use and if it isn’t considered socially acceptable by their party, the lobbyist paying for their next campaign, or by the media, regardless of the public’s opinion the politician makes the economically wise choice for his own pocketbook, not the will of his/her constituents.
One way that the government agencies help to protect and control their own fates is the use of overly complex and confusing “red-tape” in order to keep the common citizen either afraid of attempting to foster change in the system or their own community or makes it so difficult to understand that the common person wouldn’t stand a chance of actually affecting policies. At one time a petition would allow a person to get at least get a bill introduced to their local officials. Now, beyond just the petition, one would have to give exhaustive research into the subject matter that they are proposing in order for the bill to get to a committee before it even meets the desk of the representative. The thought is to keep the rep from being overwhelmed by millions of ideas, which seems simple and logical enough. Except for that many of the ideas and beliefs of the “working poor” collectively, the “blue collar”, and individual “white collar” political believers don’t get passed the first step of the process.

Another way the wool has been pulled over our eyes, so to speak, is the loss of personal liberties and personal expression/privacy. Many factors have chipped away at our civil liberties, including our own drive to be more socially conscious of the feelings of individuals based on sexual preference, race, religion, etc. Although the Constitution and Bill of Rights does call for every man to have the right to pursue happiness, the fact that we are now considering making certain words illegal due to the fact that the offend a person is directly in conflict with the rest of the rights protected, if not in simple English then clearly intended, by the writings of the founding fathers of the American country. To simply decide that someone doesn’t have the right to use “foul language” or “inappropriate terms” is a clear violation of ones right to speech, in any forum. Why then, are people being jailed every day for speaking against political figures and their actions? Why then, are people not allowed to discuss explosives anywhere near an airport? The second example may seem like less of a violation due to the terrorist fear that has been instilled in our culture since 2001 and the great tragedy that our country endured, but if you would consider that jail able, why not jail someone who jokingly states that the government will only change after a violent uprising? Or perhaps someone who makes a harsh statement against a political figure that you are in support of? The fact is they have already dramatically limited the rights and privileges of the average American citizen by simply ignoring the poor, the economically unstable, and those that believe that their voice and vote are useless.

LINK?
Do you know someone who you feel deserves a LINK card but can't get one? Do you know someone who has one who doesn't really need one? Illegal Immigration

Can't we get a little discipline?
Should parents learn how to teach their kids manners better? Why do parents just let their kids do whatever they want? Is the reason that we can't reprimand our children because of the DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services)? Do parents fear that if they spank or discipline their children someone will take it wrong and think that they are trying to beat their child instead? So many things go into parents head over this subject! Some people ask, why don't we reprimand our children like we were reprimanded by our parents? Do people think that if they discipline their children that their kids will not like them that much anymore? What do you think is a good method of discipline for children?

Own a gun?
Where do you stand when it comes to owning a gun? Should people be able to own guns? Should we follow the 2nd amendment? How much protection is too much protection? Social Networking Service: Good or Bad?
With Facebook, Twitter, Myspace.com and countless other social networking sites taking up all your time, do you ever feel that you could be doing something more productive with your time? Are Zoo's Torture For the Animals?
Do you think it's torture for animals to be behind bars at our zoos? I love going to the zoo, and most people have fond memories going there, but do you ever think that zoo animals must feel like they're mired into something they don't understand? Think about it this way: if you've ever been to jail, that might be how these animals feel: bored, trapped, wanting to be free, as people are. Some animals are kept in small cages where they barely have room to roam or to have fun. Some of their cages aren't even appropriate living areas for these animals. WELFARE--abused system?
Do you think people should be on welfare for more than a year? Nowadays you can get a link card or government assistance for just about anything. Do you think it is okay to be on this system for more than a year? Are there any circumstances in which a person or a family should be on government assistance for a long period of time, such as a long-term medical problem?In most cases our government does not check if welfare recipients are even looking for jobs. How does how we look affect how we are?
If people lost weight, doctors lowered the price of plastic surgery , and many more people felt comfortable in their own skin, what would the consequences be? For instance, if our overall population had higher self-esteem, would this lower teen pregnancy? Would there be fewer people abusing their spouse or children? Schools need to take action on bullying
Everyday there is kid being bullied and there is nothing being done. Teachers always say its a faze that a student is going through and that they will grow out of it. Is that always true? "It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students". Source: National Education Association. When is enough enough? Does it honestly take a child killing themselves for the schools to finally step up? We have that whole child left behind law, but if a child is being bullied and there is nothing being done; isn't that like being left behind? Its not just being pushed or shoved around, its all types of bullying. From physical to cyber it all hurts the same. It was reported, In 2005 (the last year nationwide stats were available), 270 children in the 10-14 age group killed themselves. (AAS). So I ask you what should be done? Should schools be more concerned about their students being bullied? Do you know what being bullied feels like? Why does it happen? What can be done to stop it? College costs what?

Should college be free to attend? On average a two year college costs about $3,000 and a four year college costs about $9,000. The Average cost to attend a private four year college is about $36,000. Why should young Americans have to put themselves and their parents in debt just to get a decent education? If not all colleges should be free to attend should there be colleges established for general study’s that are free to attend or at a reduced rate? What do you see yourself spending on your college education?

Sex ed in schools; is it really that bad?
Recently teen pregnancy has become a subject that has been featured in many TV shows. For example; Secret Life of an American Teenager, 16 and Pregnant, Degrassi, and more. some of the episodes have featured teen girls getting pregnant, or are already pregnant. These shows have sparked viewers to to think whether or not there should be sex education in schools to prevent teen sex or at least offer protection to stop teen pregnancy, but people are also offended and think that the topic of sex and contraceptives should be something that the parents teach their children. My question is how do you feel about sex education in schools? If there was sex ed in school do you think teen pregnancy would be prevented, or would it matter? Lower the drinking age?
Should the drinking age be lowered from 21? If people can vote and join the military at 18, why do they have to wait until 21 to drink legally? Did raising the drinking age from 18 to 21 save lives? Do you know someone who you feel deserves a LINK card but can't get one? Do you know someone who has one who doesn't really need one? Can't we get a little discipline?
Should parents learn how to teach their kids manners better? Why do parents just let their kids do whatever they want? Is the reason that we can't reprimand our children because of the DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services)? Do parents fear that if they spank or discipline their children someone will take it wrong and think that they are trying to beat their child instead? So many things go into parents head over this subject! Some people ask, why don't we reprimand our children like we were reprimanded by our parents? Do people think that if they discipline their children that their kids will not like them that much anymore? What do you think is a good method of discipline for children?

Social Networking Service: Good or Bad?
With Facebook, Twitter, Myspace.com and countless other social networking sites taking up all your time, do you ever feel that you could be doing something more productive with your time? Yes, these sites can be a great way to socialize with grammy who lives on the other side of the country, or to find that long lost cousin in who knows where, but what about the lack of anonymity, promotion of narcissism, shorter attention spans, and other downsides to all the time we spend on the Internet? Do you think the dangers & downsides of social networking outweigh the benefits?In the past decade, what people barely knew of as the "Internet" has taken us by storm, and if you want to get somewhere in life, you are going to have to learn to become Internet savvy. Are Zoo's Torture For the Animals?
Do you think it's torture for animals to be behind bars at our zoos? I love going to the zoo, and most people have fond memories going there, but do you ever think that zoo animals must feel like they're mired into something they don't understand? Think about it this way: if you've ever been to jail, that might be how these animals feel: bored, trapped, wanting to be free, as people are. Some animals are kept in small cages where they barely have room to roam or to have fun. Some of their cages aren't even appropriate living areas for these animals. Some people think it's educational for people to learn about all these creatures around the world. Some think that zoos save animals from getting on the endangered list. What do you think? WELFARE--abused system?
Do you think people should be on welfare for more than a year? Nowadays you can get a link card or government assistance for just about anything. Do you think it is okay to be on this system for more than a year? Are there any circumstances in which a person or a family should be on government assistance for a long period of time, such as a long-term medical problem?In most cases our government does not check if welfare recipients are even looking for jobs. Some of them might be sitting at home enjoying the benefits (via tax dollars) of others' hard work. Do you think the government should check up on families? How does how we look affect how we are?
If people lost weight, doctors lowered the price of plastic surgery , and many more people felt comfortable in their own skin, what would the consequences be? For instance, if our overall population had higher self-esteem, would this lower teen pregnancy? Would there be fewer people abusing their spouse or children? Would sex before marriage be reduced?To ask the question another way . . . in our current society, more people are unhealthy, overweight, and "unattractive" than at any other time. What is the downside of this collective low self-esteem? How does it affect society?How much does your own personal physical appearance matter to you? College costs what?

Should college be free to attend? On average a two year college costs about $3,000 and a four year college costs about $9,000. The Average cost to attend a private four year college is about $36,000. Why should young Americans have to put themselves and their parents in debt just to get a decent education? If not all colleges should be free to attend should there be colleges established for general study’s that are free to attend or at a reduced rate? What do you see yourself spending on your college education?

Sex ed in schools; is it really that bad?
Recently teen pregnancy has become a subject that has been featured in many TV shows. For example; Secret Life of an American Teenager, 16 and Pregnant, Degrassi, and more. some of the episodes have featured teen girls getting pregnant, or are already pregnant. These shows have sparked viewers to to think whether or not there should be sex education in schools to prevent teen sex or at least offer protection to stop teen pregnancy, but people are also offended and think that the topic of sex and contraceptives should be something that the parents teach their children. My question is how do you feel about sex education in schools? If there was sex ed in school do you think teen pregnancy would be prevented, or would it matter? Lower the drinking age?
Should the drinking age be lowered from 21? If people can vote and join the military at 18, why do they have to wait until 21 to drink legally? Did raising the drinking age from 18 to 21 save lives? Do you think teen drinking is a serious problem? Why/why not? If you are over the age of 21, do you have reason to care about the drinking age? Do you think at 18 or 19 years old people are adult enough to debate the drinking age--or will they only see their side of it? Can't we get a little discipline?
Should parents learn how to teach their kids manners better? Why do parents just let their kids do whatever they want? Is the reason that we can't reprimand our children because of the DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services)? Do parents fear that if they spank or discipline their children someone will take it wrong and think that they are trying to beat their child instead? So many things go into parents head over this subject! Some people ask, why don't we reprimand our children like we were reprimanded by our parents? Social Networking Service: Good or Bad?
With Facebook, Twitter, Myspace.com and countless other social networking sites taking up all your time, do you ever feel that you could be doing something more productive with your time? Yes, these sites can be a great way to socialize with grammy who lives on the other side of the country, or to find that long lost cousin in who knows where, but what about the lack of anonymity, promotion of narcissism, shorter attention spans, and other downsides to all the time we spend on the Internet? Do you think the dangers & downsides of social networking outweigh the benefits?In the past decade, what people barely knew of as the "Internet" has taken us by storm, and if you want to get somewhere in life, you are going to have to learn to become Internet savvy. Are Zoo's Torture For the Animals?
Do you think it's torture for animals to be behind bars at our zoos? I love going to the zoo, and most people have fond memories going there, but do you ever think that zoo animals must feel like they're mired into something they don't understand? Think about it this way: if you've ever been to jail, that might be how these animals feel: bored, trapped, wanting to be free, as people are. Some animals are kept in small cages where they barely have room to roam or to have fun. Some of their cages aren't even appropriate living areas for these animals. Do you think people should be on welfare for more than a year? Nowadays you can get a link card or government assistance for just about anything. Do you think it is okay to be on this system for more than a year? If people lost weight, doctors lowered the price of plastic surgery , and many more people felt comfortable in their own skin, what would the consequences be? For instance, if our overall population had higher self-esteem, would this lower teen pregnancy? Would there be fewer people abusing their spouse or children? Schools need to take action on bullying
Everyday there is kid being bullied and there is nothing being done. Teachers always say its a faze that a student is going through and that they will grow out of it. Is that always true? "It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students". Source: National Education Association. When is enough enough? Does it honestly take a child killing themselves for the schools to finally step up? We have that whole child left behind law, but if a child is being bullied and there is nothing being done; isn't that like being left behind? Its not just being pushed or shoved around, its all types of bullying. From physical to cyber it all hurts the same. It was reported, In 2005 (the last year nationwide stats were available), 270 children in the 10-14 age group killed themselves. (AAS). So I ask you what should be done? Should schools be more concerned about their students being bullied? Do you know what being bullied feels like? Why does it happen? What can be done to stop it? Are Zoo's Torture For the Animals?
Do you think it's torture for animals to be behind bars at our zoos? I love going to the zoo, and most people have fond memories going there, but do you ever think that zoo animals must feel like they're mired into something they don't understand? Think about it this way: if you've ever been to jail, that might be how these animals feel: bored, trapped, wanting to be free, as people are. Some animals are kept in small cages where they barely have room to roam or to have fun. Some of their cages aren't even appropriate living areas for these animals. Some people think it's educational for people to learn about all these creatures around the world. Some think that zoos save animals from getting on the endangered list. What do you think? Do you think it is okay to be on this system for more than a year? Are there any circumstances in which a person or a family should be on government assistance for a long period of time, such as a long-term medical problem?In most cases our government does not check if welfare recipients are even looking for jobs. If people lost weight, doctors lowered the price of plastic surgery , and many more people felt comfortable in their own skin, what would the consequences be? For instance, if our overall population had higher self-esteem, would this lower teen pregnancy? Would there be fewer people abusing their spouse or children? Schools need to take action on bullying
Everyday there is kid being bullied and there is nothing being done. Teachers always say its a faze that a student is going through and that they will grow out of it. Is that always true? "It is estimated that 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students". Source: National Education Association. When is enough enough? Does it honestly take a child killing themselves for the schools to finally step up? We have that whole child left behind law, but if a child is being bullied and there is nothing being done; isn't that like being left behind? Its not just being pushed or shoved around, its all types of bullying. From physical to cyber it all hurts the same. It was reported, In 2005 (the last year nationwide stats were available), 270 children in the 10-14 age group killed themselves. (AAS). So I ask you what should be done? College costs what?

Should college be free to attend? On average a two year college costs about $3,000 and a four year college costs about $9,000. The Average cost to attend a private four year college is about $36,000. Why should young Americans have to put themselves and their parents in debt just to get a decent education? If not all colleges should be free to attend should there be colleges established for general study’s that are free to attend or at a reduced rate? Recently teen pregnancy has become a subject that has been featured in many TV shows. For example; Secret Life of an American Teenager, 16 and Pregnant, Degrassi, and more. some of the episodes have featured teen girls getting pregnant, or are already pregnant. These shows have sparked viewers to to think whether or not there should be sex education in schools to prevent teen sex or at least offer protection to stop teen pregnancy, but people are also offended and think that the topic of sex and contraceptives should be something that the parents teach their children. My question is how do you feel about sex education in schools? If there was sex ed in school do you think teen pregnancy would be prevented, or would it matter? Social Networking Service: Good or Bad?

With Facebook, Twitter, Myspace.com and countless other social networking sites taking up all your time, do you ever feel that you could be doing something more productive with your time? Yes, these sites can be a great way to socialize with grammy who lives on the other side of the country, or to find that long lost cousin in who knows where, but what about the lack of anonymity, promotion of narcissism, shorter attention spans, and other downsides to all the time we spend on the Internet? Do you think the dangers & downsides of social networking outweigh the benefits?

In the past decade, what people barely knew of as the "Internet" has taken us by storm, and if you want to get somewhere in life, you are going to have to learn to become Internet savvy. Is all this leading us in the right direction, though? Do you feel there needs to be more censorship, or limits, when it comes to what we can and cannot say in this new world? Or are you just in love with this new creation to the point that you can't be away for five minutes from that phone, computer, or other technological device that gives you Internet access?

Santa Claus and God. Some people try to make the point that believing in God is about the same as believing in Santa Claus. Many of us are taught to believe in Santa when we are young, and then we stop believing when we discover presents hidden in the closet by our parents and we figure out we have been lied to. In contrast, though many of us are also taught to believe in God when we are young, we (some of us) retain these beliefs even with nothing to support them. Why is this? Do you think that believing in God is far different from believing in Santa? Why or why not? Do you think the beliefs are similar? Why or why not? Do you think it is okay, or even preferable, to believe in God on the basis of faith only? If someone did the same for Santa, would you have a problem with that? If so, why?

After a day of last-minute appeals, including one made to the U.S. Supreme Court, Troy Davis was executed last week at 11:08 p.m. (Wednesday, September 21, 2011). Davis convinced hundreds of thousands of people, but not the justice system, of his innocence in the murder of off-duty police officer Mark MacPhail in 1989. Though Davis's attorneys say seven of nine key witnesses against him have disputed all or parts of their testimony, state and federal judges have repeatedly ruled against him. The execution had been set to begin at 7 p.m., but the high court’s decision was not issued until after 10 p.m.

Blog 1 -- Due Sept 29

Assignment: Write 150 words or more in response to the post below. Due 9/29.

Most people today would agree that slavery is morally wrong and never should have been legal in a civilized society. But in the past many people thought slavery was okay--that there was actually nothing wrong with one person owning another. It's hard for us to imagine today that a large segment of our society condoned slavery--to the point of going to war over the issue.

What issue today compares to slavery in the past? That is, what do you see occurring in today's society that people in the future will look back on and say "I can't believe that was legal"--that it was allowed, condoned, and was common practice among many people?

When the northern states wanted to abolish slavery nationwide, many people in the southern states stood up in protest, and eventually a war broke out. What is a behavior or common practice today that some people would want to abolish, but if we tried to abolish it others would be extremely against doing so, maybe even to the point of going to war over the issue?

Name a problem/issue/behavior you recognize as wrong in our society and then explain why you think it is a problem and what might have to happen for the problem/issue to be resolved. (To answer the question click on the word "comments.")

I think that executing Troy Davis was the wrong thing to do because by the looks of it, the police did not have very reliable sources. The police should have gone through the evidence again and made sure that executing him was the right thing to do. It seems like they just wanted to convict someone because it was an officer that was shot and he was the only person that would fit the profile. But instead of looking into the case the cops just convicted someone that was not that important to the world. I am in favor of capital punishment because you should pay for your crime. I think that before you even consider putting someone to death you should reevaluate the case and make sure you are making the correct choice.

I think that the execution of Troy Davis was the wrong thing to do. After looking at the information given to us, it seemed like they didn't really have any evidence. They had seven witnesses and some of them recanted their statements against him. The courts themselves weren't sure if the evidence was plausible enough to convict him. If he did do it, then he should of just got life with no parole. I am against capitol punishment I've researched the death sentence and there are hundreds of people sentenced to death for something they did not do, while the real murderer is out free. It's not right to take a like for a life there are many other ways to get justice especially if you are not 100 percent sure the person deserves the crime their being punished for. If it were me and someone in my family was killed I would never wish death upon anyone Life in prison is good enough...it's hell on earth in there anyways.

In the case of Troy Davis I do believe they should have reopened the case and done some further investigating. By the sounds of it there seems to be a lot of wholes in the prosecutions case against him and even in the eye witness testimonies. I truly believe that before punishing and man or woman to death everything and anything possible needs to be done to look into the matters before taking possibly an innocent persons life away from them. I do agree that if someone without a doubt murders someone they need to be punished but is it right to take there life as well. I personally am on the fence of with the issue. I would say that if a killer is caught and prosecuted they should be imprisoned for the rest of their life but say if someone I was closed to was brutally killed I would most likely be for the death penalty. Troy Davis though could of been an innocent man put to death for a crime he did not commit, I just feel that maybe his life was taken without proper reasoning or factual evidence.

I agree with the statements above when they refer to the death of this man as wrongful. I feel that there was not enough evidence to say that this man was guilty and that many people who went on trial against him went back to the court and repealed what they said.so they obviously felt that wht they said or did against this man in court was wrong. I feel that the government was biased in this case with the loss of officer McPhail. I mean yeah it is unfortunate when an officer and a serviceman is injured or killed out of circumstance don’t get me wrong. I feel for his family and children. But do you think that maybe things were a bit forced since each time he had a death sentence hanging above his head when he went to court. But something kept saving him. So In that respect I feel the death penalty was used wrong.
But I do think that the death penalty should still exist, but only for certain reasons. I feel that terrorists and major criminals like for the Unabomber for instance and the Zodiac killer. Those are the people I feel are worthy of the death penalty. It makes me feel safer knowing that people like them are going to get a fair trial and sentenced according to what they did. Call me harsh but that is basically how I feel.

In the case of executing Troy Davis, I believe that it was the wrong thing to do. From what I have read and what I have heard over the news about this case I think that is was kind of b*** s***. They didn't really know that it was him that did this, but they needed someone to accuse of this murder. I think that the people involved in closing this case should have looked more into it and should have made sure that it wasn't someone else. I feel like they just wanted to get this case over with an closed so they choose troy because he was the one that fit the profile the best. I'm also on the fence about capital punishment. I think that yes you should die for what you did, but also at the same time I think that you should stay in your jail sell an think every day what you did wrong to someone. Though before they do anything they should make sure that they have the right person for the crime.

In my opinion the court had enough evidence at the initial trial to convict him of all charges with the sentencing of the death penalty. That had so many eyewitnesses stating that he did it. As there were only seven witnesses that helped the defense, which I considered basic character witnesses. One witness, the mother of Davis stated he was at home until around 9pm when Davis and his sister went to Atlanta. In any case family and friends will always provide good characteristics about the suspected. I thought that it quite didn't make sense that they continuously tried to get a retrial near the date of his execution. Since the court and jury convicted him initially, they obviously had enough evidence for the conviction. With the concluding facts that I have collected, the ending results came correctly. Even if the courts had considered a retrial, I would believe there would have to be a rather substantial amount of evidence in which I believe they didn't. I do believe in capital punishment in a certain way. If someone takes the life of an innocent or harms another significantly they deserve to lose their life.

in my opinion, i don't think troy davis should have had a conviction, because there wasn't much evidence. especially to kill him when what he did was years ago. people usually feel guilty or bad, or have a change of heart. i don't believe it should have took all this time for them to end his life. its morally wrong in my eyes. God forgives anyone no matter what you do, so in my eyes, if he asked him into his life and really truly ment it then he could change his life around. they should have did a little more effort on this case.

I don't believe anyone should be killed no matter what they did. if he killed someone and the court system turned around and killed him back, they are killing someone themselves. so should they sit in prison as well? i think so. because its all wrong. he shouldn't have freedom in prison. he should be a cell for the rest of his life, maybe. I just don't think these ending results should have been this way. maybe he was on drugs?, needs help. noone knows someones true story. don't get me wrong, i don't believe people should kill people, when they haven't done anything wrong..., but then again why are we able to buy guns? maybe this whole world should rethink everything.

I believe the execution of Troy Davis was unnecessary. All the evidence and the witness did not make any since. The fact that they gave this man capital punishment is outrageous. The police did everything in their power to get this man on a charge because one of their own was killed. I do not believe he was given a fair trial based on that information. I am totally against capital punishment. Giving someone capital punishment is just the same as them going out and murdering people. If you would not want someone to murder one of your loved ones why would you inflict the same hurt and heartache on another family?

I agree with the statements above, when they refer to the death of Troy Davis was wrong. There wasn’t enough evidence to say that this man was guilty. Many of the people that testified against him went back and repealed what they had said about him. So right there tells me that they weren’t sure themselves and that maybe their conscious had caught up with them. But I feel like the death penalty was used wrong. There should have been way more evidence presented before they killed him. I feel like the police did everything they could to get him killed, because one of their own had died. With the information that I read, I think that further investigation should have happened. The system in my eyes just wanted this off their shoulders, and rushed to make all this happen.

Assignment: Write 150 words or more in response to the post below. Due 9/29.

Most people today would agree that slavery is morally wrong and never should have been legal in a civilized society. But in the past many people thought slavery was okay--that there was actually nothing wrong with one person owning another. It's hard for us to imagine today that a large segment of our society condoned slavery--to the point of going to war over the issue.

What issue today compares to slavery in the past? That is, what do you see occurring in today's society that people in the future will look back on and say "I can't believe that was legal"--that it was allowed, condoned, and was common practice among many people?

When the northern states wanted to abolish slavery nationwide, many people in the southern states stood up in protest, and eventually a war broke out. What is a behavior or common practice today that some people would want to abolish, but if we tried to abolish it others would be extremely against doing so, maybe even to the point of going to war over the issue?

Name a problem/issue/behavior you recognize as wrong in our society and then explain why you think it is a problem and what might have to happen for the problem/issue to be resolved. (To answer the question click on the word "comments.")

An ongoing issue with society is against news and media relations causing big reactions against stories that doesn't need to be heard by the public. With the recent story of the supposed "cop killer" that has caused many rallies and protests against the suspect getting the death penalty. Media relations has just given fuel to the fire to most of the stories causing it to give others bad feelings and hot tempers. It makes people want to get involved. Recently in local news they stated that there was a shooting over in a project area. As I saw it on the news it made me want to see what actually happened and go to the location and see if I could see anything. In my conclusion media relations and the local new's companies cause our society to take something small and make it big. Hypothetically speaking yes, a corrupted politician is a bad thing, but it will cause some chaos toward the politician and my bring severe consequence. Just leave things alone is what I think. If media relations and new's companies would just leave some of the small stuff or even the bigger stuff to a minimal, we wouldn't have to worry about some things. That is just what I think.

A problem in society today would have to be gay rights. A lot of straight and godly people discriminate against them because their with the same sex. But for the people that are have to live with people judging them for what they believe in. I think this is a problem for people because either they just think its wrong for the same sex to be with each other or the bible says that commitment to the same sex is a sin. But it shouldn't matter to anyone if your gay or not it should matter if the person is happy or not with the decision they have made. Gay marriage is still one of the most common things that are discussed in today's society. Many gays are fighting for what they believe in and our even getting laws passed to allow them to be married to the one they want to be with. This issue might not seem right but to the people that our or support someone that you know, and might always seem like a big deal. But it will fade away like slavery and racism which took along time to over come even if we still deal with it today, but in the end they've fought and look where they are now. this could happen and change if they keep their opinions heard and open.

There no telling how many illegal immigrants are in the United State working for someone. Most are crossing the borders illegally with the help with someone in the United States. Now they have to work really hard and a lot of hours to try to pay the person back. But first they have to survive, cause they will work long hours with no pay and barely any food if they eat any at all. They can’t run away from them either, they have nowhere to go? Who will help someone that can’t even speak english, The police won’t help them. The police will keep you out of danger but they will also have you shipped back out to your country. So you are stuck to those kind men that help you get into the United States, Who can beat, and can rape you at any moment. In other words you’re a slave and is going to be one for a very home time on average they work about 3-7 years some can take 10 or even 15. Then when you’re finally done paying them off where you would go? Likely you don’t have any family member so you’re on your own in one of the most business.

Really the only thing I can personally think of that is morally wrong in my eyes is abortion. I'm aware that many people have extremely different views on the matter, but to me it's a disgusting thing to do. In the future society may or may not look back and wonder to themselves what the hell were we thinking, but since it is illegal in some states my guess is that it will be outlawed in most if not all in the future.
I think abortion is a problem because first of all it is murder, some will say that a fetus is not a real human being until it is born, but that's a out right lie. A baby's heart starts beating after the first few weeks of life, how can anyone take away a life that hasn't been given the chance to live and did no harm to anyone?.
I understand different people have different circumstances, but In my eyes if you can have sex willingly as a kid in junior high, a teenager in high school or college and an adult then yes you should have to take responsibility for your actions and deal with the consequence. There are so many options as to what you can do, there is adoption;so many people who want to have children can't and want to adopt children everyday.
I can understand if you are a victim of rape..that would be the most devastating thing in the world and having to carry a child of someone who did that to you...but that's all I will say about that topic because it's a touchy subject and the women in that category do not apply to my thoughts on abortion.
I also think that there would be a lot of uproar from many people if it was outlawed in every single state, do I think there would be a war over it? No not really, but I do see protests, mobs, and possibly violence if this were to ever occur. The only way to resolve this problem/issue is just to make it illegal and let that be that, possibly not applying to victims of rape because they were not willing and didn't choose this for themselves...this is what I think.

I believe it should be done no matter what happens though; even if you was raped because there is all kinds of women out there that have reason to why they can't have kids. so killing a child even if you was rapped is wrong. i know that it would be so hard to carry a child thinking about what has happened too you but i still don't find it right. what has a child done to you?, he never was asked to be brought into this world or for the parent to make a mistake like that. Everyone knows what is right and wrong. People know what protection is. They should use it if they don't want that too happen. I do think there should be some kind of fight to make sure this is illegal in all states. i don't believe in violence to solve an issue but for people to actually be grown adults about this. what if you weren't here?, what if your mom killed you?, you never got to live this life you have now?, its unfair because those children don't have a say so. so i believe that no matter what it isn't right.

I think in today,s society, a big problem is discrimination. Discrimination of many different ways including race, sexual gender, religion, and convicts. The main point I want to touch on is convicts. In today's society, everyone expects convicts to get out of prison, get there life on the right track, and get a job. But what i think people fail to realize is that very few employers will hire convicts, regardless of the crime, or if they are "an equal opportunity" they won't hire you. If convicts can't get a job to be able to support there selves and families, what does society expect them to do? Nothing? In result of this, most convicts resort to selling drugs, or stealing/robbing people for a living. I think in-order for things to change that employers need to take a chance and help convicts out with employment. There are tax breaks for employers who choose to hire convicted felons.

i say that slavery was a very bad thing in the back of the day.i don't know how people can be chained up all day and getting hit just because they was not doing their work all the time. i don't see how people could work so hard in that hot sun and don't get paid for being out-side that long. i could not just be picking cotton all day and night all my life until i died.slaves did not get no water until they got done with their job was done. chained up was probably the hardest thing for the slaves. they had no freedom at all in them cotton fields.i would have water coolers for the slaves out there and for for them when they got done with their work. i would have gave them breaks at time. i would have never had them chained up. if they tried to run they would just got shot at. i would've had a play ground for the kids to on and just have the adults in the fields working hard day and night.

one thing that i agree with that is wrong in society is keeping abortions legal i understand what people go through and if a person’s parents do not agree on their young children having kids at the wrong time but i believe that there are people who can’t experience the feeling of having a child or even being able to say OMG..."IM PREGNANT!" that deserve and would want to take in a child if the parents are not fit for it and make them their own, treat them with love and care. Personally i don’t feel that any person should go through the stress or heartache of knowing that they canceled a life that could have been the next Grammy award winner or the next president or maybe even the richest person in the world i don’t think anyone deserves that. The world cannot continue if people and society continue to take people out of it and cancel the continuing generations.

Over the summer I read a book about the abuse of women. I was shocked to see that this was still a severely ongoing issue, especially overseas and in Africa. In some of the villages there women are circumcised. It is merely to make women into objects. They also rape women on a fairly regular basis and in my opinion I find it disgusting. I think that every woman should be empowered especially in third world countries because a strong woman can do anything and a strong woman can literally raise the generation that changes the future. I think it is terrible that women are treated as objects because they are obviously people too. Women should have the exact same freedoms as a man, she can do the same things as long as you teach her. It’s scary in the places where they still do things like that and I feel like people should go over and help those women so they can live their lives without fear of being raped and abused by people who think that they are objects.

ne thing I think that is morally wrong in this society now a days is abortion. I just do not understand how a mother could or even would want to take their own child’s life. Woman who can not have children would die to try over and over again to have one even though they can't. They have to adopt. I believe it is wrong on every level for any woman to have an abortion. I feel that if you are old enough to have sex then you are old enough to take care of a baby and support them. If you do not want to become pregnant then do not have sex. Abortion is a very harsh. Even when you think your baby in you is a fetus, it is still a life that is living inside you the first weeks of pregnancy. The baby does not deserve to die especially through an abortion. It is sad on all the stories you hear that people are trying to make it legal for anyone to have an abortion. If you have sex take responsibility for your actions and do not do an abortion if you do not think you can handle a baby then at least put him/her up for adoption so that someone who is unable to have a child can care and support the life that is in you!

I agree and i disagree about what the person above me is saying. Abortion is wrong but you can and can’t blame the mother for doing it. She might have a really serious for her doing so. Some women have abortions because they are not well enough established to take care of a child. Another reason is that it could be recommended by a doctor because of a serious maybe even a life threatening medical situation to where she has to do it even though that might be against her beliefs or just because she wants to keep her baby. I’m just saying a lot of people don’t believe in it but because you went through it doesn’t make you a baby killer. I see signs all the time when I drive by clinics of protesters waiting for young girls or women to come out the clinic and they are calling them baby killers harassing them to where the police are being called to the scene and I just think people shouldn’t judge other people when you don’t even know their reason for doing the things they do.

I believe that abortions should be legal, plain and simple. Like people said above they made the choice to have sex and they have the choice to fix it. I know for a fact if i was to have a child I’d want to father it, not give it away, and, if i am not able to give it a good life, i become a bad parent in my eyes. I'd rather fix, for lack of a better word, a mistake rather than live with it. If someone can’t have kids, adopt by all means, but not mine. Mine is mine and no matter what, i want to be in my child’s life, so adoption is not an option for me. I’d rather get rid of it and try again later than not be able to give my child the best life possible. Also like people said above, they think its ok to allow rape victims to have abortions, that’s not fair to non-rape victims who do want to go through pregnancy. Equality is what everyone wants, correct? Then why take away freedom of choice, no matter the situation?

As I read the Blog I couldn’t really think of something wrong in the world that we struggle with. As I read over some of my classmates responses I agreed with the majority of them. I see a lot of people saying that abortion is a Big problem in the world today and it is. There are a lot of teens getting abortions and even adults. Abortions are harmful and you wouldn’t know unless you look into it. You wouldn’t know unless you have either been through it our know somebody who has. The reason why I say they are bad is because of the process you have to go through. You are actually killing a growing Child. You are killing something that is growing inside of you. Some people go through abortions because of their own personal problems and some do it for no good reason at all. If you lay down and make a baby, Step up and take care of your responsibility.

I agree with some of the posts from my fellow classmates, in my eyes i see abortion as wrong. There are other options other than ending a life. for instence you could put the chiled up for adoption, i am sure there are many family out there that are looking for kids to join their families. For example women who cant have children of their own for health reason or that they just cant conceive a chiled. these are only but a few of the families that would seek to adopt a chiled. Other families may seek to adopt out of the kindness of their hearts, to give a chiled in need a place to call home and a family who loves them. Every chiled has the right to live, make choices, and even make mistakes. Who are you to take that right away from them? However like everthing is life their is an exception and this is the only way that i believe a chiled should be aborted. If that chiled would 100% kill the mother by being born, then and only then do i think abortion should be an option

I agree with the post about the gay rights. You can’t help who you love rather it’s right or wrong. I couldn’t imagine being judge for who I love or what I believe in. There are laws that are being past to make it legal in states and I think that’s awesome. Today society needs to realize rather people like it or not its happening and need to get over it. I think just like slavery if people would just stop arguing about what is right and wrong, and listen to what these people actually have to say, they might see that they are just like us. Trying to live a life with the person that they love.

Just like slavery, some people feel that it was okay to have black people as their servants and some didn’t. Gay rights have been a very big controversy for many years and many years to come. Some may argue that it is not okay because it is not in the bible or it is not like the old times where you were required to marry the person that your family picked for you. You cannot help that you love the same sex as you. You should be judged on the inside and now what you look like. Just like slavery, you were judged on what color you skin was not if you could read well or speak different languages. It is a very big topic that will be around for as long as peoppe still walk this earth.

Last year I watched a documentary on a guy named Fred Phelps, He is the owner and pastor and the westboro baptist church. The only other people who belong to his church is his crazy family. The phelps family do activities like protesting and colleges and even worse they will even go as far as bringing there picket signs to things such as funerals for fallen soldiers. These people are completely insane, their signs read things like " god hates soldiers". I cannot believe they are withing their legal rights to do things like stand at a funeral with their signs. It makes me so mad to hear about this, i wonder why the law cant to anything to stop it

I think that rational discrimination is a big role in today's society still. Even though slavery has been gone for so long people are still racist towards other people. You can go to any place in the United States and people are still segregated. Just going through high school and junior high there was a segregation of the students, I think more people need to start opening up to new cultures and accepting people for who they are. Just because someones a different race or color people just assume that they wont like them, or they just judge them on appearance. I believe it's a very big issue and it's not really looked at in today's society even though you see it almost every day.I think people need to start or try to talk to different people in different races, so they become more open new cultures and new people.

One topic I think that the nation faces is its discrimination against convicted felons. Yes, they have committed a crime and they should be punished, which they have, but what kind of rights are they given when they are returned back into the world. Upon release they are immediately branded with the "Scarlett Letter" and are told to go out and be a productive member of society but how is that possible when no one gives them the opportunity to even get as such as a good career. On applications you are required to put down your criminal history and right below it there is a disclaimer stating that you may still have the opportunity to be hired on but is that still really the case? If they have such difficulty getting employed with the businesses out there how does the government expect them to stay off the street and stay clean? How can they be able to meet the means of being able to provide for not only themselves but their families as well. I agree that they should be open about their criminal record but I think they should be given an equal opportunity to better their lives.

I would have to say that I agree with most of my classmates when it comes to gay rights. It should be legal across the states and all over the world. There should not be a barrier, when it comes between the love of two people. It shouldn't matter if they are either of the same sex or opposite sex. People fall in love and you can't control that. You can’t change that and never will be able to. There already plenty of states that are starting to see that there is nothing wrong with it and have been allowing into their laws for the rights of gay marriage. Most people go against this is because it’s not in their bible or not part of their religion. But they can’t be accountable for what they believe in or just because of what they think. Gay rights has been a big controversy for a quite a while now and will keep going for a long time.

Though abortions are considered "morally" wrong to some, I consider myself pro-choice. It's always been so controversial. In the 1950s, when abortion was illegal, women would literally try and use a coat hanger to perform self-surgery. Obviously, this lead to a lot of deaths from internal bleeding, and even infection. There are certain circumstances in which I believe it is okay for a woman to have an abortion. Of course it would be terrible if someone was able to support a child and decided to have an abortion. But if a woman is raped, unable to bear a child (could result in death), not wanting to give the baby away to adoption knowing they wouldn't be able to care for their own child, etc, then it should be okay for her to make her own decision about something that is her's. I do not, however, believe in late-term abortions. There are many other steps that could be taken to prevent that from ever going on so long before realizing they do not want the baby. That actually is killing a baby that could even possibly live with premature birth.

a problem i see a problem with animal cruelty to many people today have pets that they cant take care of its not just dogs and cats even though they make up the majority there is still farm animals and almost any other animal you can think of the exotic wildlife trade traffics more than 50,000 different exotic species its calmed down since the 70s and 80s but its not just the animals there is people out there in the same conditions one way i see to fix the problem is opening more shelters and maybe even renevating some old abandon houses just gotta use effort

In society, we always go back in forth with what is right and what is wrong. An example is abortion. Some people may feel that you should not kill another human even if it has not been brought in the world just yet. Many others believe that it is your choice to do what you want to your child. Slavery and abortion are just two of the things that the world will never have an ending topic of what you should do or what you could do. At the end of the day us as people in a judgmental and hateful world will always have an opinion about something.

I really dont think the world understands that if we all come together the world would be a better place. I am totally against the violence we have toward each other...but when you think about it the kkk did not kill each other they killed other races, not to say that its right and we should not kill each other, but they killed someone different from them and their same kind. People should realize that we were all put on this earth for a reason and i don't think that reason was to hate each other and kill each other. I think we were put here to make something out of ourselves so when that day comes when god brings us home, he can say you've accomplished your goal.

First of all im Against gay rights, me growing up in a christian home my mother was very strict and made me read the bible.... and The bible says "The image of God is both male and female and is reflected in a godly union between male and female" Marrigae is made for a "Man" & a "Women" Not a man & a man or a woman & a women. God made Adam & Eve not Adam & Adam, or Eve & Eve. Thats why two men or two women couldnt reproduce a child together because there bodies are not made to be together or reproduce kids.

A very large problem in the united states i would have to say is the government. they create all the rules and set them, sure without rules it would be total madness, but the way they potray themselves of being extremely powerful and unstoppable really gets to me. they have the attitude of "we can do what ever the fuck we want and you have to follow it" type of way of thinking. they set the rules and we follow and who knows maybe in the next 10 years or so the rules that they have know were considered unlawfull. so over all i would have to say the people who create the rules and fool us into thinking that it is ok.im not against them i just think they can approch us in a more humane way.
